D16y8 w/stock internals?
psi is irrelevant without a mentioned turbo and size on it. hp is wat u need to aim for. 220 and and under is safe on a d WITH A GOOD TUNE. u could get a little t25 that would spool real quick and run maybe 13 lbs on it and it would be fun and safe. research turbos of different sizes and pick whats best for u then build off of that. im running a turbonetics t3t4 57 trim on my d16y8 stock and im tuned for 10 lbs. DD'ing on 6 lbs.
On my d16y8 i had a spoolin manifold kit with a t3/04e 50 trim running 10 psi. Open downpipe i was running 255whp and 215wtq. With a 3 inch i was down to 230-240 whp. Very fun engine. Only problem I had was I had too much timing in the boost column and lifted my head and blew the headgasket. Put a new headgasket and ARP head studs and that's it. Tuning is very important as with any engine. In any case I would have spent the money and got the FJT pistons and customs rods and turned the boost up.
