I have a 93EX with 1.6L

How do you adjust your idle?? Is there a screw adjustment or do I adjust the linkage for the throttle cable??

Also, can the throttle flapper be taken out and cleaned?? It looks like there is just 4 bolts holding the throttle to the intake?? Any gaskets??

 

There should be a small screw that the throttle cam rests on, it will likely be locked with a thread locker because Honda doesn't want you to adjust it. It looks like a set screw with a small locking nut securing it. You'll need a metric allen wrench (dont remember the size) However, you have to be very careful because the idle is set in the ECU and the ECU targets this speed via the IAC. Why do you want to raise your idle? is your TB clean? is the IAC clean and operational?

 

Here is the situation...I was doing some routine maintenance and attempted to wipe the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner. After that my idle started to surge from 800rpms to 1200rpms. After reading I thought maybe I got some dirty in the FITV. So today I pulled that apart and cleaned it...also did the IAC valve.

While doing all this, I notice that whom ever had the car before me, routed the throttle cable in a way it was rubbing on the AC line. So I pulled the throttle cable off and in doing so, I messed with the linkage for the cable that is on the front of the intake. I thought this was how the idle is adjusted.... hence why I asked the question.

So to make a long story short, after putting it all back together, the idle seems to be OK, but I have not driven it much yet. I still want to pull the throttle body off and clean that being it looks pretty dirty.

Any suggestions on doing that??? Will I need to get a new gasket where the throttle body mounts to the intake??

 

if the gasket is still good you could reuse it but for the 5$ it cost id change it, and u can clean it well with brake cleaner u dont have to remove the throttle plate either just clean thoroughly inside and out

 

Go get you a can of Seafoam deep creep, its in an aerosol can and will do an excellent job of cleaning your entire intake. Just start the engine, crack the throttle and spray away!
