Default Tri Y problems...

I purchased a tri y header for my ls motor tonight...got it put on but for some reason the back of the header by the collector flange was angled toward the ground and not straight like my previous header?are ls heads different from a b16,gsr,or type r head?

got any ideas on how to fix it?cause with the angle its at theres no way its gonna bolt up to my exhaust..i thought about cutting at the weld where it starts to angle down and have a exhaust shop angle it up enough to make it staight.

You got the idea bring ti to a muffler shop, another thing to do is get a flex pipe and attack it, or modifey your exhuast flange

i was gonna do some flex pipe but that still wouldnt fix the angle of the header it would eventually drag so much that the flange would be toast lol...guess i can just get it cut and angle it up more then re weld it..

Was that a hytech or a replica?

You might want to reflect on that. Cuz I don't think a real hytech would have done that.

its a replica yes..only thing i know to do is cut it where it starts to angle and have it re-welded with it angled upright to make it even

i had the same problem with my header. what i did was, right after it collects to 2 pipes i cut a small v shape on the top. then torched the back side, got it cherry red, and bent it up to close the v cut. once you have it were u want it, have it welded up. worked for me

Mine was a "real" hytech.. no knock off stuff.. Real custom made..
just the way the design is.

Back off the screws that connect the 2 pieces together. If you tighten these screws too much the tail of the header will angle towards the ground.

i did a "pie cut" on mine, about an inch after it merges into 2 tubes. rewelded it, and while i was at it, i welded all of the slip fit connections. fits perfect.

i also thought about welding where it slips together also,my buddies leaks around the two pipes that doesnt have the brackets/screws to draw it together
