Default transmission swap

I'm getting a 92 honda prelude 5 speed transmission, and swapping it in to my accord. Well my question is do i need to buy a positrac first, and have someone put the positrac in then transmission? I'm new to the whole car thing as you can probably tell, but the reason i asked was, because someone told me that transmission was a lsd. So their for he said that i didn't need that, and i should just take the transmission, and have it put in. So what should i really do?

the prelude tranny should bolt up to the accord motors, unless it is a type s trans w/ atts
if it has a m2b4 trans code sticker on it, it is a jdm h22 trans w/ lsd. you should be fine w/ that..
you may also want to check your clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and replace the rear main oil seal, since you will have the tranny out

.....so ur sayin u would rather your car pull with one wheel than with two wheels? Alot of people desire to have an LSD trans over a regular one(LSD=Upgrade from from non-LSD trans if u ask me, don't see y u wouldn't want it?)....idk wat ur friend is trying to get you to do, but i would stick with an LSD trans anyday regardles if i don't "need" it.

Well, it also depends if you really need the limited slip diff on your car. If you're just doing some regular driving, then your open diff should be fine, as 75% of the FWD cars on the road are like that. If you're planning on burning some rubber or seeing some track time, then the LSD might be a good idea.

Opening up your transmission and putting something is ultimately going to cost you more money, as you're basically at the point of "rebuilding" your transmission.

As Dubs stated, check all the transmission-related stuff; I didn't replace the rear main seal when swapping transmissions and after everything was done, i saw oil leaking out of the engine/transmission interface. Doh.

^^^Oh jst re-read post...you don't have the trans yet im guessin...well i thot you had it n i didnt see too much point in rebuilding it if an LSD was an upgrade from a regular trans. Of course you don't NEED lsd n you would run fine without it....but if u have the chance to get an LSD trans for a good price, you would be fine with it as is(if there is nothing wrong with the one you plan to get) and have an upgrade at the same time (not too much of a good idea to rebuild it with out an LSD, if u really don't want lsd then your better off jst finding another non-lsd trans and getting that). But again, its your set-up and you can do whatever u want with it .
