Default replacing a snapped rod in my gsr...

I'm replacing a broken con rod in my 95 gsr. My question is where would be the cheapest place to order a OEM rod and head gasket. I'm thinking inlinefour.com.

Also, since I have everything torn apart, are there any reconmendations that I should do other than the head gasket?

But why? I've never had issues w/ the OEM bolts.

I'd probably just pickup a set of used rods as you can find good ones for cheap as everyone rebuilds w/ better parts.

cost is some of it. rod bolts are probably the one bolt i would never reuse in a motor. OEM might work if you can buy just 2 from the dealer. ARP only sells sets unless you special order. make sure you check the clearances since it will be a different rod

So are you saying that a rod snapped and nothing else was damaged?

acuraoemparts.com is a good place to find oem stuff cheaper than the local dealerships.

If I had to tear my block apart, I'd be using it as an opportunity for a hone, new rings, bearings, oil pump, water pump, t-belt, seals, gaskets, etc. And all of that is if NOTHING else was damaged.

the #4 rod snapped cause the kid that I bought it from hydro locked the motor. The cylinder wall is not damaged but the oil baffle plate took a wack from the loose rod. Also, the loose part of the rod (connected to the crank) tagged sections of the block (below the cylinder wall). Thats the total damage.

sounds like the rod is bent, not snapped. i have a really hard time imagining a rod snapping without destroying the block.

Be sure there isn't any damage (nicks) at the bottom of the cylinder otherwise the piston may be damaged while it's at BDC. I know on LS motors a small portion of the piston skirt actually travels below the the bottom of the cylinder when the piston is near BDC.

Id check the bottom of the cylinders closely man, I hydrolocked my 95 GSR and I put a rod through the block, and bent the other 3. Also check and make sure there are no bent valves in the head
