Default aem.vs power chamber

i love my a.e.m intake on the r, it just seems that the carbon fiber power chamber intake a.k.a. "Whales *****" is showing up alot more. i was just wondering if this is worth it. i notice J's racing has one and i'm sure password jdm is a copy of that. but has anyone got ride of there a.e.m for this and noticed any performance diffrentence? or is it just a show of dollars.

Supposedly they're better at producing a bit of low-end torque, but time after time I've read that the 3" AEM arm is the way to go for a VTEC powerplant.

I just went with the Comptech icebox, since it's got a nice quietness about it. I don't love the noise aluminum intakes produce, but that's me. My old Samco arm with a bpi velocity stack sounded sweet...ah now I'm rambling!

yes this is a good couple questions. i seen test saying the whale ***** makes more power and is better for daily driving but have an aem cold air intake, OG version.

WOULD ALSO like to see what some peeps with k20 versions have to say as im looking for an intake for my swap and the power champer in carbon/kevlare looks sweet in swapped civics but would not sacrifice performance for cosmetics.

INPUT?

I had an AEM CAI and switched to a Samco Arm with Blox Velocity Stack... Love it! Wouldn't go back to AEM intake...

so why couldn't you just use your stock intake arm with the blox velocity stack and filter. wouldn't you get the same results with that.. the only reason why not i would say is because the stock arm is not smooth.....any thoughts

I was thinkin the same thing about the stock one not being smooth but then I was thinkin honda must have thought of that when designing it. A while ago I read about air flow and stuff..kinda confusing but like I said honda must have put some thought into it so i think it wouldn't be that bad. My butt dyno says it feels like throttle response isn't the same w/ stock over aem but I only have a LS so it's deff different from an AARRR

Replace the stock arm with this. Smooth on the inside, add a v-stack and good to go.

Dont be fooled a 3'' piping with a good vstack / filter setup will produce great numbers

all these name brands are just that.. and j's is by far.. the worst intake you could possible get..

that's what i always say, people just get caught in this bling bling crap and would rather pay 3 times as much for an intake that looks like it has elephantiasis and takes up half the engine bay.
