Default Air Intake?

ive checked and cant see anything in the FAQ

Now im not sure what air intake system to have do i have a short ram air intake, a full cold air feed intake, or just use my stock air box and insert a spoon replacement filter.
Ive heard some aftermarket air filters make the teg lose power over the stock air intakes.
What air intakes have you guys found to be the best, and dont say mugen, im too poor for that one lol

You damn right you did....... . Josh thanks so much for the intake, i love it and could not be happier. I saw such significant gains its incredible!

Edit....to the original poster, the J's is an awesome intake. Sounds bad-*** and you will certainly tell a difference.

I have an AEM CAI for the time being. I like it just fine. Its better than a short ram. I've never compaired it to the J's though.

I loved the sound of the AEM CAI but it was a bit too loud for the streets here in europe. So I went with the comptech icebox with a K&N filter. Its great, ive read that there are better powre gains with the Icebox but Im not sure.

AEM CAI = noise maker............ not trying to cut it down or anything but its been proven to make less power then the stock airbox. From reviews i have read and info i have gathered your choices are as follows.

1st.....Mugen, which you'll pay and arm and a leg for but shows damn good #'s
2nd.....This is a toss-up between the J's and the Comptech Icebox if i remember correctly.

AEM has been proven to loss power.

Mugen Is the BEST
But pricey so....... J's next then Comptech.

i had aem and now i have j's..

i like both..

lets say aem sounds crazy at vtec... (butt dyno tells me AEM is more for high end rpms) and j's racing.. vtec doesnt sound that crazy.. it's got good throttle response compared to aem and (lower to mid end power).

that's my quick review on both.

Well, I must add that I really think the Mooogen intake is the best I have owned...... but I may be a little biased.

Pick either the Icebox or J's racing and move on to something else. No need to debate with yourself, it's only an intake.

Wow, the AEM actually lost power on the ITR? That is kind of bikkuri (surprising).

You could always go ITB's, yum yum. One of my Japanese friends here has ITBs on his DC2. Though he is going turbo, so they will be going on another Japanese friends DC2.

I guess you can't go wrong with the J's, as many members here have recommended it. You may also want to look at the TopFuel, as it looks like the same design to the J's.

I've always wanted to combine the J's and the Mugen together, but for that much money I could probably pick up a set of ITB's.

Maybe a J's and a Comptech Icebox won't be such a bad idea Hmm...

Run a search either with my name as the Creator or SGT under archieved topics you will find some interesting results. (dyno results posted..not just blabber and hear-say like most tend to spread)

We both compared the J's to the AEM CAI to the Stock ITR air box.

1st was Js
2nd Stock ITR Air Box
3rd AEM.

I can ramble on and on about what we did, how it went down..but ive done it about 100000 times on this board...you'll find it.

BTW it was on a totally stock 98 ITR motor.

Js vs Mooojin coming soon as soon as i get my moojin

I wouldn't think an AEM would lose power over stock. HHMM. I did ride in a near stock R at Sebring with AEM and that thing was so damn loud it was hurting my ears, even with my helmet on. Sounded freakin awesome though, power or not.
