I lather the piston rings and pistons with a good amount of oil, that helps to keep the rings in place.

oil does play a role in keeping things together a bit more easily and also at the same time lubricating. but is there a way to know.? the piston ring will be obvious and able to be seen from the top side when install but the other three(second ring, oil rings, and the spacer) is not going to be visible.

all-mtr-teg: thank you for the input

as long as you arent moving the pistons around, what do you have to worry about?

clock the ring and push the piston down the bore. Slight movements in the rings wont bring them outside their clocking window if you set them in the middle.
