ok so i searched and checked the FAQ page and it listed the types of exhaust everyone likes n a couple sound clips..but i didnt see much on intakes other than everyone bashing eachother for asking...
1) Is the Berk Test Pipe worth getting with the stock exhaust? and how does the CEL fix work?
2) Is the K&N short ram a decent buy for sound n gains? i dont want to spend $1,000+ for 7-10 hp...with the J's...mugen...etc...

to answer 1) I love my test pipe. i never installed it with the stock exhaust but have heard some sound clips and it makes the s2k sound a little like a 350z. if you like that sound go for it. I have mine mated to the hks dual exhaust and it sounds amazing. The CEL fix works by moving the o2 sensor farther out of the exhaust stream and therefore it picks up normal amounts instead of elevated amounts and keeps your CELs off
to answer 2) if your talking about the k&n fipk intake it is a great buy for both sound and gains. It was the first intake i bought and had a great sound without being overpowering as some metal intake tubes can be. the gains are comparable to all the other intakes on the market around the price range

you'll get a better gain from the test pipe than the K&N - just to give you an idea of what to expect..
test pipe with stock exhaust isn't much of a volume change really - it was good enough for about a month for me, then i went the HKS route as above.

Thanks for the replys...
I just ordered both, so I hope I like it. Also on the FAQ thread I saw alot of hate for the HKS. I will eventually grab an exhaust but I will take my time in deciding. I read the Invidia was a good one for the price... I like the Toda dual but then again for power gains I hear a single is better than dual... So I will have to see. Where can I buy the bumper piece to cover the open exhaust hole if I do decide to go with a Single?

Think of the HKS as something that saves on weight and makes the car sound like it should, and you won't go far wrong. It's extremely unlikely that it could lose power but it's also unlikely to gain much..
IMO a single exhaust on an AP2 looks bad. but that's just MO

check youtube for a sound clip. theres a ton on there. the sound of the hks is why i made my decision. ik an exhaust was going to help to much on power so i went with something i loved the sound and could live with while it was on my car. some singles are too loud for me
I love the sound of my HKS. But it was really a waste of money at the time of purchase. I am now supercharged and will be pushing 12.5lbs of boost when my new pulley arrives from ASP. By then I will be going to a single 3inch exhaust. Without a doubt I love the S2000. But going NA is almost a waste of time for power. Unless you are ready to go ITB and stroke it, you are wasting your money. But I would say go for sound and looks for an exhaust and not HP is you are not FI. Being clean at times is better than being fast. Best of luck either way.

just installed the FIPK intake...100 times better sounding than just taking the oem box top off... well worth the $240 i paid...
Install was easy...if you can read you can install this intake...VTEC sounds sooo much nicer
Waiting on my buddys Lift to install the test pipe. hopefully this weekend.
