question about turbo
First my setup is an ls/vtec. 81.5mm bore 9:1 compression . stock gsr head redline at 8200.
Im looking for around 420+whp on pump gas. What turbo do you think would be beter over all. It will be driving on the street alot, and at the track every weekend.
Right now I have a garrett 60-1 turbo.
.70 cold side
.63 hot
It has a stage 5 wheel.
I never ran the turbo on the car yet because im just finishing up getting the rest of my parts.
I have a chance to get a good deal on a garrett t04e .60 trim turbo
.60 cold side
.63 hot side
Do you think the .60 trim would spool much faster than the 60-1? If its not much of difference, i will just keep my 60-1.
any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

hey, i never ran a 60-1, but i did run the exact setup you have with the t04e 60 trim for about 6k miles. i loved my 60 trim (for sale right now on ebay), the turbo was responsive and hit hard, trouble free. boost started around 3k, and i had full by 4500 ( only 7 psi ). cant complain here. i am upgrading to a gt30 just because i can, but i still like my 60 trim.
It won't reach maximum pressure too much faster, mainly because of the exhaust wheel used and your compressor cover. more than likely about 4500rpms like grndcont stated. If you want more top-end, keep what you have. If not, drop down to a 50 trim or some equivalent.
