idle or timing
so i bought a 92hb with gsr in it has a s2 IM with hondata gasket I/H/E the idle wont go any lower than 2k. I just installed a 68mmTB same thing though, i tried spraying carb cleaner arount the intake and vacums to check for leaks but nothing loosened up the throttle cable, shut the idle screw, plugged up the iacv with my finger and nothing. my friend is having the same issue but he is gsr turbo. any help would be apreciatted im starting to get annoyed by the vibration at all the stops . thanks in advance for the help. im searching but ikeeps coming up with the iacv

so i went to check my timing see if it was off but im kinda stuck. when i put my timing gun to 16 degrees do i look for the red mark(middle) or the white one

Sounds like TPS have you looked into that?
you look at the red mark on the timing when using a timing gun..check for any vacuum leaks and or try bleeding your coolant system...your coolant systems runs your IACV so try that. also try cleaning your IACV
Remove air intake tube, place finger over large port in the throttle body, if engine speed changes any, or engine dies or drops RPM, then you need to replace IAC. Given that all obvious were checked first, being plugged in, coolant level, air in cooling system, ect!
ive checked it all, plugged it up with my finger and no change, ive bleed the coolant,i took off the throttle cable, sprayed it with carb cleaner. what i did notice is that when i fisrt start it it will idle at around 1100 thena as it warms up it goes instead of down. i have a chipped ecu dont think that has a set idle.

good question. I was thinking about that. I know it a chipped ecu, i think its a p28 the tag was removed. I also noticed that my o2 was cut, not connected. would that affect my idle? I have no cel.
if there is no CEL then most likely the ecu is not reading it, so it probably isnt affecting your car. but you might want to find out what map your running, it might just be a stock ecu if you havent opened it up to look at it
well i know its chipped since it has a 2step. just opened it. its chipped it says p28 vtec in pen writing.imma try my ls-v chip on it see if the idle changes.
-the iacv is the only thing controlled by the ecu that has anything to do with idle.
-you can disconnect the coolant **** from the iacv with no ill effect(in temperate climate, lol)
-timing should be set with svc connector jumped and rpm as close to 750 as you can get it and only at operating temp
-base idle is set with iavc diconnected
-provided you have acceptable ohms from your iacv, remove your iacv and spray it out with your favorite solvent (works best after taking it off a hot engine btw)
-reinstall and repeat until your idle calms down.
Everytime i think my iacv is ****ed i clean it out one extra time and it always fixes the problem. New ones are expensive so burn a couple cans of carb cleaner through that bitch b4 buying parts. I use PB blaster before the carb cleaner letting it sit for a few minutes then spray it out, seems to help.
Good luck, my idle wont go below 1k with my POS 70mm TB but it better than the fluctuating 3k i had before i cleaned the iacv (i end up doin it about once a year when it starts getting cold)
good luck

well if i unplug the iacv it starts to flacuate. right now it doesnt flacuate it just stays at a constant 1800 got it to drop 200 bout to go try a diffrent ecu in a bit
so i tried a diffrent ecu and the same thing. if i plug the iacv port it does lower like 100-200 rpms and if i put force(where it feels like it going to break almost) on the tb flap i can get it to 1000-1200 with the port plugged, thats purty much blocking the whole intake. when i firt start it stays at 1200 or so but once you give it gas it will stay at 1800 even if i push down on the flap,to make sure its not getting stuck.
any ideas of what i can do. im stuck dont know what to do next to figure this out. im thinking it might have something to do with S2 mani and hondata gasket, even though i never had this problem using these before.
