Just bought 92-95 JDM Cluster, turn car on and speedo sits at 40kmh, help
So i just bought a JDM auto cluster for for my 94 EG manual. Just had an SI cluster in it and everything worked fine. I'm having issues with the new cluster. The speedo sits at 0 when the car is off, as soon as you start the car it jumps up to 40kmh. And once it jumps up to 40kmh the speedo works from there.... Also the temp gauge goes from cold to hot as soon as i start the car.
I searched and found that it shouldn't matter that the cluster is JDM or that it is an auto cluster. The only thing different is I don't have a plug in on the cluster for the yellow pig tail, but I do have a plug in on the cluster for the green pig tail?
I bought the cluster on ebay from a guy in texas who has 100 percent feedback with 72 ratings and in his add he claims that everything was in working order.
I am completally stumped on this one, any help. Thanks.

I had the same problem with the speedo on a guage cluster I have in my car.
Heres what I did and its been fine and the speedo seems accurate, kinda doesn't make sense but it worked for me. Open the guage cluster up. Pop the front plastic away from the cluster so you can access the gauge faces and needles. Take the needle off the speedo. Turn ignition to slot II. Now re-install the needle with it pointing to zero. Turn ignition back off and then back to slot II and see if it stays at zero. It would seem that your speed would be way off..but I did mine this way and its fine.
As for the temp guage, not sure.
The above might not be the correct way but it worked for mine, thats all I can vouch for.

If i were you i would return that crap. And buy a SiR cluster. Looks more sexy..lights up amber and needles light up.

Yeah I just emailed him a little bit ago, so hopefully I will get a reply soon. The whole pull the needle and replace it when its at 0 worked....... but the speedo only is working half the time now. It will work and then it won't work.... but at least it reads the correct speed now.
Also, that is not a JDM cluster. It is CDM/USDM, and virtually no different from what you had before. Well, the speedo is Canadian, and the fuel/temp is US.
