Default Spongy shift feeling in third?

hey guys,
i have a 96 accord ex manual 4 cyl
i did something pretty dumb obviously i was just driving around and my friend pulled up yesterday and so we raced and when i went to go from 2nd to 3rd it felt like it went in but was just grinding and ever since it just feels spongy going into third

and also when im at a complete stop and i dont push the cluth down and try to put into 3rd it goes all the way up and when i press clutch it just goes in but doesnt pop in like its suppose to like on the other gears but my vehicle does drive fine any suggestions thanks guys!

does it grind every time you shift? I think your third gear synchro is almost done.

thnx for the reply but i been busy so i tryed investigating what else was wrong but it seems only the upper gears are doing the spongy feeling 1st 3rd and 5th are all doing it but 2nd and 4th pop in like a champ and to answer your question is no it doesnt grind at all

i have the same problem with my car... try changing your tranny fluid or check you cluch master and see if its leaking on the fire wall... i could be one of those

thanks i shall try to check that, but the only thing is i got to go to work now so unfortunately i have to wait till tomorrow. but ill be on it

just a theory to throw out there for people who know more than me. could it be something to do with the actual shifter? it just seems wierd to me that 1st, 3rd, and 5th would do it but not 2nd, and 4th.

yea i check the link but never the shifter itself... but good point tho cstone.... i know once i changed the fluid and did clutch master it worked fine
