Default Lookin into modding my civic

hey guys I have a 00 Civic Ex stock yea i know sad. Im lookin into spending some cash from xmas depends on how much i get ie mabye around 500-600$ for some preformance mods/mabye getting stiffer springs and a new gauge cluster and new headlights due to the driver side headlight low beam does not work but the high does<--if any1 can help me out with that i would love it.
back on topic. What would you guys recommend? also i might just grab a good lookin body kit because my front bumper has a hole in it when i bought the car.
Edit: would this be a good engine for a swap. I would rather grab the auto considering my car is already an auto

Get a job, the last thing an unemployed person needs to be doing is blowing money on a car. All the "good" looking bodykits are going to be out of your price range too. The headlight bulb could be bad, causing the low beam not to work. Did you try different bulbs?

Try and make the car oem spec first. Low beams not working is a safety thing get that figured out electrical problems are a pain anyways but it really depends or what you want to do. Most body kits are frowned upon where i come from. Usually a waist of money you will notice most peoples civics that are worth a damn have oe bumpers and side skirts on them most of the time. If you like the look of one then get it, its your car and that's what Honda is all about making your ek your own. GL

Fix your car first, then lower it, then look into a lip kit. That would be cheaper and look better than a body kit. In this economy, not having a job, I wouldn't recomend moding your motor much. Theres not to many persormance upgrades that improve gas mileage. As far as the motor your looking at, don't get it. You can find a nice B swap cheaper and easier.

ok. my only issue with swapping is A: I cant find a B engine swap for less than 1k, B: I would need some1 to help me swap the engine and trans considering mine is an auto and the fact that ive never even learned how to drive a manual is a problem. A reason i like that engine is cuz its an auto so i would prob just need a new auto trans and thats it.

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer basically dealership parts or equivalent. So stock bumpers and skirts and if your sticking with an auto then honestly i wouldn't spend all the money swapping a motor in there if your doing it for performance purposes then you would want a manual transmission anyways. a Honda caters to everybody weather your racing it and have a smaller budget or you want a low maintenance car or you want a cheap reliable good gas mileage car or whatever you need. Weather your 80 or 18 there's a Honda for you but you really need to know what you want. You want a racer? get a stick and swap that b series in there. Otherwise i would be pretty mild with my mods if i were you.

its pretty easy to change it to a manual
either sell it or convert it to manual
check your fuses under the steering wheel for the headlights
and just get it looking clean and new
im not hating, but below...what looks nicer and less flaming?
but whatever you like though. dont be a clone and do what other people say you should do. but i say just dont get flamed.
1st pic is a rice bodykit
2nd pic is a lip kit

Do not go with an auto. I tried to swap a buddy of mines 96 civic with a jdm auto B16 from Hmotors and the computer for the auto tranny and harness were not with the engine and after a few weeks of trying to find a b series auto computer with no luck and noone to make a harness to adapt to the EK harness we decided it is easier to go manual swap.

If youre low on cash, I wouldnt recommend a swap. On top of just the cost for the engine, axles, mounts, ecu, harness, trans, linkage, alt, starter, clutch, flywheel resurface, etc, whether or not youre keeping a/c and p/s, you still have to refresh the motor youre putting in. At the least thats timing belt, water pump, maybe oil pump, belts, seals and gaskets, tensioner. It adds up. Figure another $1000 on top of the swap cost for that stuff. And especially with no income its a bad idea. If I were you id save as much as possible and just keep the car in good shape with oil changes, fix the lights, brakes etc. You have a long time to spend money. When people are young and first get into working on cars they tend to be very impulsive and do things without thinking, waiting will allow you to make better choices and research better parts.

example: an OEM SiR lip compared to a tacky cheap bodykit. Wheels that arent 17" or bigger and a generic type like black with polished lip. no giant muffler.

heres an example of a really clean nicely built car.

notice it has an OEM lip, some nice Advan RG I wheels (rare) a bride seat. very tasteful and can be driven without being labeled as a d bag.

I already got some good tires/wheels on the car, the light issue isnt the fuse i already checked that.
Sense i already spent 4k on college im expecting a huge tax return.
Edit: ill prob go with a lip kit and replace my front bumper because it got molested by some d bag when i bought the car

i recommend keepin it simple and clean.. most people are tight on cash as is with this economy.. get a lip for like $ 65, some lowering springs for about $120 a strut bar for like $40 and a short ram intake for like $65. those mods with actually help ur cars performance as well as looks for a fairly good amount of money. The body kit idea is kinda played out and kind of tacky. hope this helps

Dude the h you linked is $8xx for just the engine. Do you know how much work is nvolved in an h22 swap? Your looking at $3000+ when evrrythings said and done.
The f series is $600 but you gotta do custom work and get tranny, axles etc so itll still ve $1500 for a single cam. For $600 your not gonna find an engine swap better than what you have.

Just get a lip kit and somi koni yellows, that way later you can just add ground controls and have a sick suspension setup.or maybe a muffler.

Note: all this stuff you can reuse if you do a 5 speed conversion or a swap down the road
