Default turbo help!!!

just put a t3-t4 turbo on my d15b 92 civic. started the car and it ran like crap. spit & sputtered at idle & also when i gave it gas. got to looking under the hood & relized that there was no o2 sensor & no spot on the turbo manifold or down pipe to install one. would not having a o2 sensor make the car run like that?

ohh yeah huge injectors with no tune could make your D fall on its face . . . switch back to stock injectors (240cc) and see if it helps . . .

It still has the factory injectors and ecu. What about the vacuum lines from the wastegate and bov. If there not ran right could that cause the problem. Nothing else was touched on the carduring the turbo install. Car ran perfect friday and installed turbo sat.

Do I really need bigger injectors & a chipped ecu with only 6 lbs of boost? I thought the factory ecu & injectors could handle up to 7 lbs of boost without upgrading.

of course not. just drive it to the gas station and youll be pushing it back.
a tune will make or break the car. ive seen 12 pounds on a bone stock D series
ran for well over a year no problems. he had a good tune, and the right stuff i.e. 450cc
injectors, walbro 255, and properly tuned ecu. thats not exactly what u need, size of injectors and wether not u need a walbro for 6 lbs is debatable, but it was his setup.
just get a set of dsm injectors from a talon tsi or turbo eclipse. just dremel out the
lower gromet for the intector.

no i have'nt. cause i was told that the factory ecu would read up to 7lbs of boost with no problems & i could still use the factory injectors. guess i was told wrong. guess im going to tap the downpipe so i can install a o2 sensor & see if that solves it. if not, guess the turbo will have to come back off till i can get the $ for injectors, fuel pump, EMS & a tune. damn this sucks!

just do what i did when i boosted my crx, until you have everything,
if its all hooked up and boosting, disconnect the charge pipe and put a filter
on it, this way, your turbo is still being supplied oil while its installed
just no boost lol, it sounds good and you dont have to hassle by taking
it all apart and putting the n/a stuff back on.

you dont even NEED a O2 sensor to run boost. i have a perfectly running z6 setup with complete egay turbo kit and it runs perfect, no o2 check engine light on runs fine. you cant run stock injectors or a stock ecu. you need a base map for your ecu, a 255fp also, and even throw in a Adjustable FPR so you can see whats goin on with fuel.

p.s. you might what to go into detail of your EXACT setup before asking for a good answer with basically no info besides "t3/t4 turbo on d15b 92 civic"

you were told very wrong. run dsm injectors are cheap. and you dont NEED a tune to run the car. i daily mine for the past 4months no problems with no tune. Save about 350 for the Injectors, FP, and ECU chip. each costing about $100 a piece then worry about a tune.

well got the car running good again. found out that i had a vacuum leak at the map sensor. i did a couple good runs on the interstate and it pulls pretty strong. boost is spiking at 12psi and falling to about 7psi. will definatly need bigger injectors and a 4 bar map sensor. only thing i dont like is that boost is kicking in around 4k rpm. thanks for all ur help guys.

when i purposely destroyed my turbo d series right before my b20 swap, we sealed off the wastegate and i took it out on a straight away. go into 3 gear and floored it, it spiked to 15lbs and kablooey lol. it put 4 holes in the block. front and back cylinders 1 and 2. my stock block only held up to 15 lbs and it was tuned and had 450cc it was a homemade setup though. just understand stock d series rods at least with me didnt hold up past 15lbs just be careful. this isnt saying yours want though u know. again just be careful.

It's still money in a D series header... But yeah, you don't need a 4 bar MAP, a GM 3 BAR, Motorola 2.5 BAR, even a stock one with a missing link is supposed to work. I'm sure it's not the best, but whatever...

i believe your stock map can read up to 12 or 14 lbs. its a 1.1 bar but like 60% is vacuum.
