Default LS Turbo Blowing White Smoke

the car over heated like crazy untill i had the thermostat changed then it stopped overheaing. all of a sudden out of no where white smoke started to come out soo much people could not even see the road lol. read up on it and heard symptons are head gasket or bad valve stem seals. if you think i should just get a new head i got a buddy that will sell me one for real cheap... took head off and hear are some pics.

this is all i saw on the head that looked different valve peeling

pistons & rods are good no play or anything

the gasket that i really didnt see nothing wrong with besides bubbly spots of coolant
