Default HMOTORS b18

Whats up everyone,

I have been searching google and HT about hmotors now I want to get everyones feed back before I purchase a motor.

I e-mailed sales and they let me know a b18 LS motor long block sales for 700.00, What do you guys think? Do the motors really come with a warranty and do they really have 30k miles on them?

I heard in japan the japanese dont really change there oils as often because it's pretty expensive. Is this true? Also what would anyone recommend doing to the long block if I purchase it before I drop it in?

Also what does a long block usually come with? Everything except tranny, ecu, axels?

Please I do not want to goto lab junkies and pay 550 because I heard alot of horror stories! Someone please fill me in and leave your BS to another thread!

Thanks friends!

Also do you think the engines will burn oil? I want a perfect longblock! I really want quality stuff.

I know I may need to replace the basic stuff like tbelt tensioner, sparkplugs/wires/ valve cover gasket.. etc..

So what would you guys suggestion be?

I just don't want to get an engine that smokes or has burns oil..

Should I try to get a usdm or jdm engine? Anyone out there get a b18 LS engine?

So can anyone give me a complete list of what I should get to rebuild it basicly?

Does it require any machine work?

it's a used motor. they are compression tested but also a decade old most of the time. valve seals and other rubber parts age. most of the engines are 30-60k miles. where in there, who knows. ask steve if he pulled it from the entire car and has a cluster with the motor, then you'll know exact. hmo is my prefered place since steve actually speaks english and is a helpful guy. jdm engines corp has sent me 2 engines that were in great shape but their customer service sucks ***. dudes sound like english is a second language

So are you talking about the valve stem seals in the head I have to replace?
I really just want a great motor so I don't have to really worry about anything with my DD so I can finish building my ls/v.

Can someone give me a fresh list of what I will need to replace off the bat and what does steve offer with the long blocks?

I would appreciate the help. Im willing to pay an couple hundred extra for a flawless motor no doubt! I really just want something reliable for a very long time or atleast 2 years haha..

they will go 2 years easy, over 5 would be more like it. i've put 20k miles on a JDM type R motor with no complaints. just buy one and install it. the b18b isn't as famous for burning oil as the R is. depending on what year your car is there may be some sensor changes involved. obd2 requires an oil pump change for the cfs and the usdm vtec solenoid to be used. depending on the year of the motor the dizzy may or may not be correct as well.

Since you said whether you should go JDM or USDM. Knowing you live in San Diego California, I'd suggest you go with a USDM B18. And since you said it was going to be for your DD while you build up your LS/V. I wouldn't want you to be harassed by CHP for having a JDM motor.

are these even available? i've seen obd1 but if you get an actual 91 engine. i'd be scared of anything used. that's almost 19 years old regardless of mileage
