hey guys what da motor oil fiter number for jdmb20b
I stick to the cheap Fram oil filter (PH3593A). There isn't anything wrong with them, especially if you're changing your oil every 2500 - 3000 miles anyway.

All B series block can use the same oil filter. Either go with the Purolator or OEM Honda. If yo ugo to honda tell them you have a 96 CRV and need an oil filter. But I would go with the Purolator.
Can someone show me proof that the honda filter is the best? No you can't. Why don't you do some research instead of doing what h-t tells you. Multiple test have been done showing the oem honda filter is not as good as the purolator P1 or the mobil 1 and the k&n. Anyone know who makes the honda filter? It's actually made by Honeywell and that is a parent company of FRAM! Honda part # 15400-PLM-A02 Internally they are almost identical to the orange FRAM filter. Including the cardboard endcaps and fuzzy filter material. Hooray for oem bandwagon kids!

Honeywell makes Hondas oil filters, the same company that makes Fram. I only use the OEM Honda filters but I bet the Frams are nowhere near as bad as everybody claims. As far as I know Honda uses only two different oil filters these days, one for the s2000 and one for everything else. I use the s2000 filter on my b18c5 as it is larger(the same size Honda used for Civics 15 years ago). The way I look at it, if I cannot afford OEM parts, I cannot afford to drive my Hondas.

That page shows a cut up Fram PH8A filter. That is the filter my first car used, a '77 Ford Granada coupe w/302ci v8. Its says the filters are manufactured to meet original manufacture specs. It also says those filters were cut up back in '99. That is about the time that Honeywell began manufacturing the OEM Honda filters. A lot could have changed since then. Again I do not use Fram, but I do not believe they are as bad as many say. If I cannot afford to use OEM parts, I cannot afford to drive my Hondas.
I also feel filters are not worth arguing over. But that page says Wix manufactures the Napa line of filters. 11-12 years ago all I heard is Napa Gold is the best there is. So I bought one for my Accord back in '99. Anytime my Accord sat for a few hours it would tick loudly with the Napa Gold filter when started. Seems that it had a bad anti-drainback valve and was draining all the oil back to the pan. That page that was linked specifically stated that is not possible with a Wix filter. In fact that is Wix's main marketing point. Thats when I started using only Honda oil filters. I used to order 10 at a time for only $39.50 from Manchester Honda. Thats only $3.95 each for OEM Honda. I am not sure what Manchester charges these days. King Motorsports also used to charge much less than the dealers for OEM Honda filters.
Yea this is gonna get ugly. Me personally I dont like fram, after what I have seen once in a shop from one.
Honda dose use Honeywell now same manufacturer as fram. But that dose not mean it is the same design or materials. I will say that.
Use a Purolator, wix, Napa gold filter, K&N, and Mobil 1 are good filters also but getting up their in price.

And they very well could be better than OEM Honda. But its what I'm unsure of in life that I'm most cautious about. I may be a little hard-headed but until something is proven to me I'll stick with OEM. $0-$3 more for the OEM filter is worth the piece-of-mind imo. Spoon Sports and also King Motorsports(the Mugen distributer and builder of my b18c5) both recommend the OEM filters.
