The Purolator filters may in fact be better for all I know as I am not an engineer. I do however trust that Honda's engineers have built a filter designed to be driven hard (and raced) for 200,000 to 300,000mi. I am fully willing to admit I am no expert, but thats why I trust Honda. Been driving 'em for 13+ years now and I have put almost half a million miles on them between the 7 I have owned. I have never had a OEM Honda part fail prematurely. One thing I have learned over the years is that VERY FEW of the aftermarket parts for Hondas are of better quality than OEM. A few are, most are not.
