Default B Series Transmission Woes

I pulled my working GSR trans apart to install an LS 5th Gear. I did not check the clearance input shaft. I never have in the past and have not had an issue until now.

Problem -
The Reverse Syncro (the one nearest the top on the input shaft) is frozen on the Reverse collar. The small end of the hub that rests on the 5/R hub is somehow getting forced onto the hub mushrooming the collar, freezing the syncro in place.

I am 90% sure I have 5/R hub installed correctly (the side with the deeper bevel is facing down towards 5th gear.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I know its something, I'm just not sure what it is?

Thanks
Burke

After digging through some stuff, I am thinking I need to change the 72mm shim on the top of the input shaft. Does anyone know the clearance spec? I only have a d-series shop manual, not a b.

Thanks

Thanks for the links. I'll take some pics of things this evening.

But..... I made some changes and it hasnt broken.... yet...
I double checked everything to make sure it was installed correctly. I put in a smaller shim ~1.2mm from the ~1.4mm that was in there and installed another new to me R collar and syncro. I dont have the nifty Honda tool to check the clearance, so I kinda just winged it. I know, not the smartest thing, but (unfortunately) I can get the trans out and apart in less than an hour.

Spins over by hand easier than it did before and has not done anything bad like it did last time it broke I already have more miles on it now than I did before. I will just daily drive it until something bad happens.

Thanks for the help
