Default JG cams or Skunk2..?

OK guys i did the searches and cant really find the answers im looking for, regarding camshafts, so i thought id try a more direct approach..

Basically comes down to 2 types of cam choices.
JG camshafts: Intake (duration: 308/ lift:0.490); Exhaust (Duration: 316/ lift: 0.490)

-VS-

Skunk2 camshafts: Intake (Duration: 266 / Lift: 0.485); Exhaust (Duration: 262 / Lift:0.466).

Now the application is simple. All motor, DD GSR. Stock bottom end, (Portflow)Port/Polish Head, portflow valves, springs retainers, Skunk2 Intake manifold, header-back exhaust (Apexi if it matters), cold-air intake (AEM). Easy, right? basic set-up. nothiing heavy. I got a good deal sittin on the JG's but i was told to try to stay away from them if at all possible (quailty issues i guess). Thats where you all come in. i could use a little advice.

I was told the stock GSR cams WILL WORK but they wont 'unlock' the advantage of the headwork, which is exactly what id like to do without going too extreme.. remember it has to be a daily driven car, which means 'reliability' and 'stop-and-go traffic'.

just need some advice on the cam choices. If theres a better one than the 2 ive listed please tell me.. im all eyes.. thnx!

You could also look into Blox B cams which are similar to the SK2 but with slightly higher lift, and longer duration on the exhaust cam. I got Blox A's and I like them and have never read anything bad about them.

I'm not sure, but with those cams you may start to become compression limited. I'm not sure how big the improvement is from stage I to II on GS-Rs with stock bottom ends. I also think those will benefit from cam timing gears, which aren't strictly necessary on Stage I cams.

The JG cams and Crower cams have a similar profile, Reliability wise, and with the work you've got, (or are gonna do) the Skunk2's are a great choice. The Crowers (similar to the JG's) that I've used needed extensive headwork to obtain the maximum amount of power that was promised. The Skunk2 Stage 1 cams I have are good for my budget because I'm able to use my own headwork (porting and polishing), and use ITR valvetrain components until I'm able to afford the full Skunk2 valvetrain (next month) Hope this helps a little.

i see these builds two ways. either ITR/skunk1 cams which are easy on the VT and allow the motor to last awhile without spinning past 9k or beating on guides OR the endyn bumpstix with 11:5-1 to 12:1 compression, more rpm and a shorter VT life. i really don't see a point of using any other cam. in your case, with that compression the skunk1's would be a great choice and will outperform a GSR stick all day

JG makes good products, never used their cams specifically but I doubt you'll have any issues out of them. Really though, you should be comparing those specific ones to the S2P2s not the S2S2s....pro 2s are much more comparable.

i would go with ctr cams. because i have a 1995 integra gsr and i love the cams soon as you hit vtec its gone. i have other bolt on like blox intake man, full exaust, cold air intake, ecu, rs*r headers, and the cams love them. do some research on the, i love them and they never gave me a problem.
