Default Lots Of Pretty Common Questions (NOOB Status)

Well first off i drive a 89 civic lx with a d15b2

and i want to swap a b18a1 into it, i have everything i need like Axles,shift linkage wiring harness and others and i know how to do it all expect...

-dpfi>mpfi i know what is needed to be done for it I just want to know what harness i need to use (i think its my lx one) and also is it different than it would be with a d series (i have searched and found none with a b-series) (it there's a write up please post)

-Also i am converting it to manual at the same time don't know if that affects it... (if this a write up please link)

-besides that i also want to find a decent exhaust for the four door i know it has to be custom just looking for somewhere to start...

-also want to lower it i need shocks anyways just looking for some good recommendations...as to what combination's

- have the b18a1 out and its going to be on a stand for a while and I'm planning to replace the clutch,flywheel,timing belt,cam seal (it leaks),water-pump,misc gaskets,plugs,wires,oil,oil filter...pretty much all basic maintenance
<motor has 146,xxx miles on it>

-And lastly what other maintenance should i do to the motor while it's
out

Thanks for helping the noob

note-you CAN flame if you want and tell me how much of a dumbass i am cause i actually think its pretty funny

if you do it try to make it as ridculious as possible

Pretty Common Questions = FAQ-Look into it...

DPFI to MPFI is in the there, no difference whether you are swapping a D or B as long as you are staying pre OBD.

Recommend replacing rear main seal while the motor and tranny are out and apart. It would suck to do everything and get it all installed just to find out it's leaking and have to remove everything take it apart.

Adjust the valves after the new T belt install. Rear main for sure. Local exhaust shop. FAQ for D-MPFI. Use the original D harness. Buy the manual trans frame rail mount new don't waste your time drilling a used one off. they are like 25 bucks new. Very easy and straight forward swap. Good luck. are the parts you listed to put on the motor bad? if they aren't, why replace them? as for suspension, search "ef suspension thread" there's one i started a while back with some decent setups in it. and yes, there are links to what you are proposing to do with your car, just go into the FAQ as already stated above, and you'll find diy's, and how to's for your project. good luck!

im not sure what your plans are for the b18 but if your planning on doing some boosting then i would suggest getting dome arp rod bolts, head studs and main bolts. also if you already have then engine out then it only makes sense to replace everything you can and have it all machined. i.e oil pump, water pump, timing belt, block resurfaced, head resurfaced, valve job, new seals and gaskets anywhere there is one, hone, have your block cleaned up, polish the crank journals, new bearings and rings, pretty much a complete rebuild. if your going to have it for a while then why not replace everything so it is virtually back to 0 miles. also make sure your tolerances are within spec. thats what i do when im doing a motor swap with that many miles. it will save you a lot of time, money and trouble down the road, if your running a stock flywheel just have it turned as long as its till within spec. im not saying its necessary to do so but it will alleviate any kind of doubts you may have with longevity.
