f22b2 and 5spd swap into '90 civic dx
Hello, I am new-ish to working on hondas and even newer to this site, so please forgive my being a noob and probably asking stupid questions.
Anyway I have a '90 civic dx with d15 and a 5 spd, and it has no guts - no power and I do ALOT of freeway driving so what I want to do is use a '95 f22b2 and 5 spd that I have available and swap them in to my car. I know I need the ecu, engine wiring harness, motor mounts, new cv axles, new shift linkage, and other things, but what I want to know is how much of the accord wiring harness (from the interior/under dash wiring harness) do I need to run the f22 in my civic. Any help is greatly appreciated.
And btw Im not looking for opinions of how stupid and a waste of time this swap is. Im just using what I have available. Thanks.

Re: f22b2 and 5spd swap into '90 civic dx
If it's a 96+ then it won't be easy, since that's OBD2 and very picky about all the extra EGR & emissions stuff. Most people will take a MPFI D/B-series harness and mod it to work, then use an earlier distributor that still had the extra sensors inside.
The F22B is very similar sensor-wise to a D15B7, so most people convert to OBD1. The ECU is generally a chipped P06 or P28 and will run it halfway decent w/o a chip if you adjust the fuel pressure. A basemap will work far better FYI.

pgmfi.org is the best resource for beginners to chipping, tuning, ect.
A "basemap" works like the parameters or settings for each specific engine. it's the control data that the ECU refers to for things like ignition timing, fuel flow (injector control), RPM limits and so on. a tuner can then make fine adjustments with a dyno (dyno tuning) or without (street tuning) to get the best power or fuel economy or compromise between the two.

Buy Neptune or S300 (aka an engine management system) and an obd1 ecu (a p28 for vtec or p06 for non-vtec), get it socketed or buy it that way, then upload the correct basemap for your engine type. The finer points are extensive and are available to anyone who can do a basic google search for them.
You will have to convert your DX's wiring to MPFI and then to OBD1. If that seems to be beyond your capabilities then I'd suggest getting a 92-95 Civic and a full B18B1 swap (engine, trans, engine wiring harness, axles, shift linkage, engine computer). Converting a non-EX/SI EF chassis to OBD1 or putting an F-series or H-series motor in any Civic/Integra is a terrible idea for any beginner. Doing both at once is for someone who doesn't have to ask the question "what is a basemap?". No offense, I'm just trying to help you keep your sanaity.
