hey guys, what are extended wheels studs used for?.. i've searched but i dunno why people install them...is it a theft deterrant?... just curious...
they use them so they can use aftermarket lug nuts and put in wheel spacers. mainly the spacers deal. the spacer will take up too much of the stud that you cant effectively have the wheel torqued down onto the hub safely.
not i have heard up to 5mm can be run on our stock studs.......
oh wait....thats right....i have been doing that for about half a year now.

i've read something about how high performance engines is to much for the stock studs, thus getting them replaced. something in that nature. and some ppl do it for looks, cuz they do look sexy haha
extended studs REAL application is for safety on the race track. a longer stud gives you more strength and more time to realize a lugnut is loose before the wheel goes flying off the car. as mentioned above its mandatory on the drag strip and probably most road courses.
most spacers today come with new studs already installed so you do have to worry about pulling the hub and repalcing them yourself.
