Default can i keep my hood if i do a j series swap?

If I do a j series engine swap into my 93 civic ex coupe would it be possible to keep my hood without cutting it. could I lift it enough of anything? I've heard you cannot but there is a video on youtube where a guy with a ej2 (pretty similar to my ej1) has the swap and still has the hood uncut. If anyone could clarify this for sure for me it would be a big help thankyou.

Depends on your mounts. Early ones wouldn't let the hood clear, but newer ones sit the motor lower and tilted different.

Do you know what brand or by chance know a direct web page or link to where I could find this?

My expenses don't stretch that far. a j35a4 only runs about 900-100$ and then I have to get new axles, mounts, harness, ecu, and tranny. as with any typical swap. The j series can just get done cheaper, being the reason I would really like to do this swap. plus it's a head turner to see a v6 in a coupe not to mention just plain bada@#.

good luck with the build, i wanted to go this route just cant see parting out my gsr turbo build... some of the guys make custom mounts to get it under the hood. plus if you ever want to build that motor it wouldnt be cheap, now you got headwork for 2 heads, need 6 rods intead of 4 and list goes on.. send me some pics when you get it done.

My friend just made a kit for a 92-95 civic.
Hes working on other things and so far this is the only kit that allow the hood to close as close. as possible.

Let me know if you are interested in a kit.

The hood is the least of your problems with this swap

Hybrid Racing makes pretty much everything for the swap. The got mounts, axles, a/c and power steering kits
And theyre mounts will retain your stock hood
