ITR tranny going out? Or clutch? please help asap!
Im haveing problems with my tranny usdm itr trans. When im driveing i hear a loud grinding in each gear maybe its my trowe out bearing but at idle with my foot off the clutch it doesn't make any noise at all and the clutch graps just fine. And lately around 6-7 rpms my second feels like it slowly wants to pop out at low speeds. Should i get a clutch kit and go from there?
when you are sitting still at idle with the clutch in does it make any noise??? if it does make noise that is your throwout bearing, and if you need a clutch the clutch would be slipping like as you change gears in get on the gas if the rpms shoot up a lil bit then ur thats your clutch....Does it grind just changing gears or even when its in gear???

check transmission fluid, while your under there inspect your axle's, brake assemblies, etc, could be something else mechanical making noise.
Sounds like one of your shaft bearings in the tranny is out. If you're at a stop in neutral with your foot off the pedal and the sound is not there then I'm guessing it's a counter shaft bearing. If the sound is always there except when your foot is on the clutch pedal then it's likely its a main shaft bearing.
Sorry bro, but either way, you gotta pull the tranny apart. If you can afford it, change the synchros while you're there.
Edit: sorry didn't see thewrai6th's post before I posted. Not trying to copy his info. Shouldn't walk away from the computer in the middle of a post.
