hi i drive a 1995 civic ex with 120,000 miles. She is getting old so i figure i need a swap sometime soon. I am either thinking about just putting another stock civic 1995 ex motor in, or a b16b or something..i was wondering what all i would need to do it myself and if i could do it..

b16b= serious stuff so it'll be expensive

do a search on swapping motors so you'll have an idea on what to do and if you can do it yourself...

 

if u have barely no experience.. dont rush yourself. learn everything first, or watch someone do it. then work on yours. dont risk messing somthing up

i did my own swap, easy as hell, but then again, i swapped like 8 motors b4 that and i've been doin this import **** for like 5 yrs now. btw answer to ur question "Do i need to pay to get a swap?" yes u do have to pay for a swap, no one is gonna GIVE you a b16b motor! (retails for about $5000! thas jus motor. tranny and edu, no labor) and yea, i say u get a shop to do it, it really does take skills and knowledge to do it, easy if u know wat ur doing, impossible if u don't. plus u need tools, and lotsa of it, lotsa GOOD QUALITY CRAFTSMAN tools, like my $2000+ worth of tools! haha. and even if u had those u'll still need a cherry picker and lil stuffs like pickle forks, brakers bars, torque wrenches, jack stands, etc. also if ur going from non vtec to vtec, u gotta know how to to wire that shiet, and it's a BIITCH! so yea, if u think ur gonna dedicated to this import scene, hellz yea, bust out a loan, get a civic type-r motor and gang load of tools and have a blast! otherwise, save ur money and get a body kit, hahahahahaha

 

He has a civic EX, vtec is already prewired. If you pick up a 94-95 Integra GSR or LS engine it will drop right in. Only modifications required will be welding the exhaust, and an intake pipe. You will however need a complete swap from all 5 mounts, Shift linkage, axles and half shaft, full engine wire harness, ECU, new radiator houses, Oil, coolant, lots of tools, cherry picker (or a couple good jacks, not recommended though). Buy a helms manual if you want to learn to DIY. Most shops only charge around $600 for one of those 2 swaps into that car. Hell i'd do it for $450. At my house of course, if you wanted it done at the shop it would cost more

 

im doing one for $200 next week...but he's my friend so its okay...just want to have some fun again...
