What timing do you run on your stock type r? as well as flywheel questrion
U sed to have a GSR motor with Type R cams and skunk manifold. Now that has blown up and I now have a legit type r motor from a wreck.
Can you tell me what timing you arfe running. Mine is at stock 16 degrees right now but I am running a skunk2 ecu. The car feels much slower than my GSR and I am wondering of it could be because the timing is not advance enough or if it is the stock type r flywheel vs my GSR lightened flywheel.
Any answers would be great. I would advance my timing a bit but want to see what everyone else is using.
Thanks,
AW

18deg with I/H.
GSR flywheel is quite a bit heavier than ITR one. Isn't it 16lbs for GSR flywheel? ITR one is ~12-13lbs, I think.

18 here, and I can tell the difference, in combination with the other mods.

GSR flywheel is heavier than ITR but my GSR was lightened about 8 lbs so it was much ligfhter than an stock ITR flywheel. My car does not rev as easily as it did before. I may have to change to a lighter flywheel again. I thought the ITR flywheel would have been lighter than the stock GSR by a lot but I guess it isn't.
I guess I will have to up the timing but I will try my Skunk2 ecu at the track first at 16 and then up it if it is not enough. I think the Skunk2 ecu advances the timing alot but not sure by how much...

Did you try swapping the Skunk2 ECU out and putting the stock ECU back in? Off-the-shelf ECU's seem to be hit or miss when it comes to actually performing better.
Actually the ecu works great. The problem I have is that because my old flywheel was much lighter I could rev the car quicker than I can now. Surprisingly, the 5-6 lbs difference is flywheel is weight is huge. Now what to do, put in my old lightened GSR flywheel or get an aftermarket one that is even lighter?
