Default B16 won't rev past 5k

Ok, the car is a 89 Civic DX hatch, converted to MPFI and obd1. Obd1 JDM B16 under the hood. I/H/E, and a chipped p06 on crome with a b16 basemap. There are no CELs on, and the only other problem it has is the cable speedometer won't work. The car idles fine, runs great until 5k rpms, then it acts as a rev limiter no matter what gear.

The jumper harness is an ob0-obd1 from j-k-tuning. Running a obd0-obd1 dizzy jumper harness, obd1 injectors, no resistor box, and knock sensor is hooked up. TPS is showing correct voltage as well 0.5v at idle and 4.5v at WOT. I'm stumped honestly at what it could be.

I hate to disagree but i swapped an ls into a crx for a friend and used the electronic speed sensor for the jdm cluster but didnt wire up the cluster so we still had the stock si in, aka tach but no speedo. The car runs great with no speedo. Isnt there a limp mode around 5k? or something equivalent if the knock sensor isnt working properly? I'd try a stock b16 or gsr (just unchipped dohc vtec) ecu and see if it throws any codes. I thought most people when they chip ecu they eliminate the knock sensor?

i hate to disagree but no one ever said ne thing bout what year the motor was and its alot easier to just plug in the existing speedo cable unless you got a diff cluster and i promise at 5k with no speedo hooked up theres no vtec also you will be at rev limit with no power ive seeen it alot

make sure you have the right washers on the fuel line that goes to the fuel rail. i had this same problem, came out to be the washers were restricting fuel causing it to lean out at 5k.

MY FIRST THOUGH WOULD BE IF YOU HAD ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, POSIBLE DIZZY OR ECU OR WIRING BUT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT IT SOLVED NOW.

*Update*

Just got back from the garage. Turns out the basemap ecu I was using actually had 2 step on it, so it actually turned out to be the speed sensor. Fixed everything up tonight, car pulls pretty good all the way to 8k. Thanks for the help everyone!
