grinding/scary noise when getting on it
alright so here's the story.. the other night i was coming home and got pulled over for loud exhaust and got a ticket. so i drove it hard for the next 5 minutes home, and about 3 minutes later i hear a grinding sort of noise when i get on it hard. dont know what it is but it was still there the next day. so i stopped to check the oil and it was low. put more in and its still there, only when i get on it kinda hard around 2-4000 rpms, if i lug it around before 2000 its not. i checked the oil again and i think i saw some metal flakes in it but couldnt feel anything (it was dark with bad lighting) i did a search and could it be related to the PCV? i plan on changing the oil asap this weekend but does anyone know what i did? its usually still full when i change the oil so idk how long it was low but it's been about 4k/2 3months now on this change
thanks for the help,
kevin

87 octane is fine, the car's designed for it.
Listen, metal in the oil is serious stuff.
Is this more a knocking noise or a grinding noise?
I might suggest that because you're due for an oil change, that you take a closer look at the oil you drain out. Put it in a glass jar so that you can look thru the bottom and spot any contaminants that might be there.
Dirt, metal flakes etc.
The problem is that without a roadtest, putting a finger on this may take a few go - arounds.

its more of a grinding, almost like compressed air shooting out of a small hole, but a little more deeper, not like a knocking sound
i'll change the oil tomorrow AM, and try to get most of it in glass thanks for the suggestion
