why do people
The only reason I've ever heard given (which is the only one that makes sense) is that they already have the D, or can get one cheap. As far as I know, there is no technical advantage whatsoever.
yeah thats what i was thinking, i mean theres a guy around where i live with a boosted single cam with like 340whp.
but hes pushin like 20psi.
i just think its sick that people get single cams so quick.

Boosting a B is a lot more money if you have to buy a B first. Unless you consider $1000-3000 to be not a lot of money.
People boost D series because you can have 200HP for $500.
Benefits of boosting a D: Low cost for decent power, easier to work on, and D's are cheap and easy to find so if you blow your motor you can pick up another one without being totally broke.
becasue if u add up the price of a vitara piston/ eagle rod and ARP headstud setup witht a decent turbo set up you can get about 300-350 hp for far, far less then swapping a b into a car and then putting together a kit to get the same amount if not a little less. D series has more bang for the buck. granted a B series has more potential, but it costs more to reach it.

I choose to have a D becasue D>B (Im talking breasts size) lol
But seriously though, everyone swaps Bs. When I have people ask me what kind of motor I have in my sol and I tell them its a D, they are like what?? (I think they are expecting a B series, H series or so forth.) And like what everyone else is saying. I can get more power out of a D and have it cost less.

LOL @ this thread.
You can boost a SOHC for about $1500 tuned.
You can swap in a DOHC, then boost it for about $4000 tuned.
Both will yield similar numbers once F/I'd unless the owner goes crazy with his set up.

in addition to what has already been said...
For a daily driver, a D-series has plenty of potential when turbocharged. Even then, you can build it cheap, throw a bigger turbo on it, and crank up the boost to what you determine is safe and make more power than you should ever even want on a DD. The only reason to swap a B is if you have the money, are a B-series fanboi who wants to impress other B-series fanbois, and/or need to make more than a D-series can possibly make (which is a substantial amount of power and the only reason I can see you needing more than that is for a pure track car, probably only one going in a straight line.)

this has been talked about over and over and over again.

There ain't nothing wrong with a boosted D but most do it cause it's readily available and I seen alot that have killer amounts of HPs.
D & B are both good just like a blonde and a brunette, when it comes down to it the decision is more of a prefference but one is of cause more fun and everyone knows it's the B.
