Default HELP NEEDED!! 91 ACCORD OIL PRESSURE

whats going on everyone i need a second opinion on my 1991 accord. the oil light starts flickering after car warms up at idle, revvd over 1k rps light goes out,. eventually the light will steadily flash, on and off on annd off. i replaced the oil pressure switch, cleaned out the oil pump pickup tube and screan. still light comes on.
at first startup oil pressure at the pressure switch is 65 psi, oil pressure slowly dropped to just under 8psi when fully warmed up. when revved at 3k oil pressure is between 55-60 psi.
so my question is
is the oil pump bad? or the balance shaft gear-case? or could i have a leak somewhere i havent seen? any help is appreciated

I suspect your oil pump hasn't any issues.
It can generate 60-65 psi both hot and cold.
Sinse you're capable of pressure, I suspect it's volume related; with that I mean that the pump can't supply enough oil (by volume) to maintain pressure once the oil heats up and thins.
What does this indicate?
Excessive internal leakage.
Most likely the oil clearances have opened up from wear. This would be primarily with the rod and main crankshaft bearings.

Are there any associated engine noises?
What is the milage on it?

The engine will live at 8psi at idle; after all, there is no load. The lamp (however) is indicative of an internal problem, one which would call for furthur investigation.

As a reference: Domestic cars' lamps come on at 6psi in most cases

there arent any engine noises other than valve ticking
216k miles on it,
so your saying the main/rod bearings are shot? i didnt really think about that..

Not "shot" by any means. There's no associated noises, right?
You might try a viscosity improver or go the to next viscosity range at your next oil change.
Where do you operate this vehicle?

i drove the car with the light on, camshaft broke in half put a new head and cam in cleaned the heavily clogged screen and changed pressure switch. i appreciate ur input but i highly doubt changing oil viscosity will help me out

Now, knowing that........ (I wish you'd mentioned this earlier) crankshaft bearings, most definately.
It would be cheaper (if you still like the car) to swap in a known good replacement from a local salvage yard. These things are a dime a dozen.

It was the "Drove it with the oil lamp on" thing that did it in. That, and of course the sludge build-up........
