I have 6 hours to do this. I need to jam the flywheel somehow so the crank shaft pulley will not move when im trying to loosen the bolt on it. Ive tried puttin it in 5th and stepping on the brakes and doing it.
I just got a big ratchet extension, its like 1.5 feet long, and then on the handle of the ratchet i have a 3 foot bar.. but when i pull, its still so hard, i cant get the bolt loose on the crank shaft pulley. Please, i need to get this done. Anything will help! HELP!

i think the only way to get it off is by using a impact gun. i had me negine out when i took mine off. i held the bolt for the FW and my dad used another wrench to get the crank bolt off.
try taking the starter off and jammin' ascrew driver in that way.my friend did his that way!
also do you have a torque wrench that is capable to retorque to 130ft lbs?!
good luck bro

I dont have the tourque, ill just put it back on using the impact i got and then go as hard as i can with the **** i got. Is there any other ways i can jam something, or push down the brake or some bs. Christ, i dont have an impact and i looked to rent on, no luck.
You want the whole crankshaft out? heheh... sorry..
Anyway, try using liquid wrench and lightly tapping the bolt for about 3 mins.

Get a really big and thick flat head screw driver, and stick in to a tuth on the flywheel through the starter opening. I used an open box wrench one time too. Once you look in there, its not too hard to figure something out. Just make sure you have someone holding it really tight.

Yes, i know, but i dont think i mentioned the fact im flat out broke.. maybe i can rent an impact somewhere?
Are you still just trying to get stuff out of the plastic cover?
I'd just get a drill/knife/dremel and cut out a hole in the bottom of the cover, then fish out whatever you dropped. Screw taking the pulley off and wasting $$ on renting an impact gun,etc...
Crank pulley bolts really suck to remove. Sometimes my impact gun will take them off in 1 hit, sometimes it does absolutely nothing. When I get stuck, I have to take the flywheel cover off and jam a screwdriver inbetween the flywheel teeth and the block/tranny. Then get a breaker bar w/ jack handle and some 1/2" extentions and try to break the bolt loose. It helped to heat the bolt/pulley a little with a blow torch. But not too much to burn the rubber balance material in the pulley.
I'd just cut the cover open, it's not going to hurt anything.

Yea, actually i was just about to ask if i could do that. Damn mind reader! Will it mess anything up if i do that?
It won't hurt anything really. It is just to keep dirt and road grime off the timing belt... but I doubt much would get on the belt anyways. Many people run with cutouts for cam gears and do not even run the upper plastic cover without issue.
It will be fine. Someday when you have to change the timing belt, just get another cover.. I'm sure people have extras floating around or they are about $30 from the dealer.... Make as small of hole as possible... just large enough to fish out whatever you dropped.
Just make sure not to hit the timing belt when cutting the cover... be careful. Else you might get to replace the belt earlier than you had planned hehe

*walks outside with dremel in hand* NOW I HAVE A NEW MISSION! Maybe if im feeling in the mood, ill even put it back on with duct tape, or take over the hole..thats if it dont **** me off.
Hehe that's a good idea. You could even seal the hole with silicone or something if you really wanted to. But I bet the tape would work great.
i'll tell you what i did.
i got a flat bar then drilled two holes the size of the holes on the crank pulley. i then put two bolts through the holes on the bar and the crank pulley. so, when i took out the crank pulley, the bar would stop under the car to prevent it from moving. i can probably take a pic of it if my dig. camera is working. but i dunno if it does.

This is the most tedious annoying thing i have done. I need to finish it in like 2 hours and im fucked.. there is no way its gonna happen!
man its so easy..just run to the store quick~! sears or pep boyz or any store that carries tools...get a CHAIN WRENCH that is long enuff to fit around the crank pully..wrap it around so that the handle leans on something preventing it from turning..then take a big breaker bar and break that sob off with your muscles..if u got some
. u will have to take off your altenator belt. wat i did was wrap the chain around the alternator belt end..works good and easy

How much do they cost. this is insane.. i went out and bought a long *** ratchet extension and i dont even need it.. **** confusion!
one more time! U NEED A CHAIN WRENCH!! ive done this many times at work when my gun was too weak.. u need some real technician advice cuz obviously the jammin flywheel aint workin for u
anywhere from 20-30 bucks for a craftsman chain wrench. and the ratchet extension will most likely be useful cuz u need lots of leverage to turn the bolt..good luck and let us kno how u do
