D-series block parts interchange????
OK so my motor I just put together has a piston slap issue. I got the D15B8 bottom end from a co-worker, needed rings so I honed it and ringed it and it sounds like a damn diesel and ironically enough I painted the engine Detroit Diesel Green too..... Thought it was valvetrain noise at first but when you open the oil cap while its running you can tell the noise wasn't coming from the valvetrain.
Anyhow its a mini-me with the B8 bottom end and Z6 head. I have a D15B1 block and a crank. (think its for B1 but haven't measured and checked for sure) Any suggestions on what crank and pistons I could put in the B1 block??? I'd like to use those parts I have to save a few bucks, I'm not in a big rush the car drives but that noise drives me nuts.
The noise is loudest at idle goes away about 2,000 RPM's but comes back a little at higher RPM's. I just picked up an oil pressure tester, just to check all the vitals.
The car is a '94 EX coupe if that is needed or if you're wondering.

Whynot just get a D16Z6 bottom end? or Y8?
But to answer your question, The D15*'s are the same for crank and rod journal sizes.. from what I remember in my D-series days... Excluding the D15B, and others similar.

Well if I come across a Z6 or Y8 bottom end I'll jump on it, I'm just exploring my options. But if can put an engine together using some of the parts I have and know it doesn't have a spun bearing or any other problem. Which looking back really wish I checked out the block I have a little closer.
It's not too often I've found any engine I could hear run before I buy it.
Thanks for the input by the by.
