Icon6 In over my head even before jumping in...

I've been planning on building a clean d16z6. Sadly, I've never done this before and as I continue looking things up and researching parts, I realize there's more to than I thought.. I'm still looking for answers on HT but hopefully this will warrant some helpful hints too.. I'm looking at bisimoto forged pistons, but they're .05 over the factory bore, with a 9.0:1 compression ratio, ummm, will they fit? and when I purchase the original block and head I want them cleaned and polished, will that change any specs? please help or steer me in the right direction please.
Oh and can someone please tell me what ttt is?!

yeah, I was going to boost it after a few months of just running NA. I've been looking for just forged items and high end stuff. pretty much just a base for a turbo. But it's going to be my dd.

I think you need to research more before you start. Your block needs bored out .05 over, you need to decide what kind of clearances you want to run, no your clearances don't change if the block/head is hot tanked

that's good you're wanting to do it yourself but unless you have some kind of experience with building engines, i suggest you leave it to the experts. as mensioned, you really have to know what you're building it for (i.e. drag or street, boost or n/a, etc...). justify why you chose what you're buying with your end goal. make no exceptions or take the "cheap" route. this is an expensive endeavor.

good luck

well, I've only rebuilt single cylinder engines in atv's.. I know the general components but only with standard replacement parts. I plan on making it a turbo/street vehicle. a dd with like 200 whp or even just 200 bhp. but I want to have a strong foundation for when I turbo it down the line. and I've got buddies that know what they're doing too soo.. And trust me, I want to use the best.

Check out D-series.org, they have a lot of info on the motor you're trying to build. Ask questions there, read the FAQ's
