y7 catalytic on y8 pass smog?
So I hae a d16y8 in my ek right now. I have a d16y7 exhaust manifold with cat just laying around. Will I still be able to pass smog with the y7 catalytic on my y8? I mean isn't it still obd2 and uses 2 o2 sensors? Another questions, my car leaks oil a little, will that affect smog?
I don't see why not except the O2 sensors wires may be a little long with Y7 cat. Th oil leak shouldn't matter not unless it's dripping at a fast rate on the exhaust causing to smoke.
Alright awesome because the y8 catalytic converter is hard to locate dude. And no oil is not dripping that fast. Just want to get emissions out of the way so I can start rebuilding the motor. woohoo
I would think the Y7 cat will be hard to find. A lot of them suffered the cracked exhaust manifold syndrome. The Y5 and Y7 cats were welded to the exhaust manifold.

the Y7 cat is fine on the Y8 just going to rob you of hp but i am sure you are aware of that. if your other cat is fine you should be able to pass smog though, have you tried replacing the Y8 cat?
Thats the thing, I never had a y8 cat. I just picked up a y8 longblock. I just need the y7 cat to pass smog. Once I am done with that, the turbo kit is going back on.
