Known Starting Issues?
I am wondering if there are any known issues with starters or neutral safety switches in 06 Si's?
I started my 06 tonight leaving the bank and heard a light chattering that seemed to be going with the idle of the motor after starting it, I popped the hood and could not hear the noise, once I got back into the car the noise was gone so I drove about 5 miles to a friend's house, shut the car off and upon trying to start it to see if i could hear the noise again, the car will not start, the starter will not even click.
We have tried tapping on the starter with a hammer to see if it was caught in the flywheel to no avail, the battery maintains a consistent 12+ volts so there is no issue there, we can get the car to pop start but nothing past that, which would lead me to believe there is either A. something wrong with the starter itself in that it is not getting power, we have not been able to reliably check the power on the starter wire just because of the ****ed up position of the wire and being on a garage floor, this is something i plan to check tomorrow once i can get the car on a lift, or B. that the neutral safety switch has gone bad and is not allowing the car to start because it thinks the clutch is not in.
If anyone has any help or has seen anything of this sort in the past please let me know.

not likely if it always maintains 12+ volts
OP next time you try and start the car and get nothing, try turning on an electrical load in the car such as map lights or headlights. if they dont turn on it could just be a loose battery cable. do you still have your battery tie down? sometimes without the tie down the terminals could come loose during your drive.

A good battery usually runs between 12.75 and 13.5 even thought they are 12 volt batter.....Trust me I've used a volt meter on them. When you use access port and flashpro you shouldn't reflash when you are anything less than 12 volts. I read some stuff on that battery tender'w website and the 11.5 volts is a dead battery a half of a volt can make a big difference
a good alternator maintains 12.75-13.5 charge.
The battery needs to be tested with a battery tester. If a battery has less than 9.6v with a volt meter on a 50 volt setting it's done.
Honda's powertrain warranty is 4 years 60,000 miles, if this part falls into that.
Autozone does free testing.
Batteries only last 3 to 4 years.

Found out it was actually a Corroded power cable on the starter, thanks every one for your suggestions!
This car is not actually under warranty because it was technically totalled, it was a flood recovery, the water had gotten up to the bottom of the lower seat cushion and it had been totalled so the warranty was subsequently wiped.

Just a thought, but there is switch connected to the clutch that prevents the car from starting in gear without the clutch engauaged. Any chance that have gone bad?
