alternator in ek
Raise the front end on stands, disconnect the battery, unplug the alternator connector, remove the nut for the large alternator wire, remove the splash guard, remove the upper and lower adjusting/mounting bolts, and then remove the lower alternator mounting bracket. The alternator will drop out from below with a little rotation.
WOW..... I wonder if some one would make a repair manual for all these cars if it would same time and effort. U could put all sorts of repairs in there like checking for coolant leaks and vacuum leaks, how to check the timing, maybe even how to replace the alternator. Wouldn't that b great!! Noobs please buy a manual and do some research then post if u still can't get it..

well thanks for the advice guys. and really appreciate the diagrams Ron. i dont have a repair manual because i basically know how to do most of everything. i just know that changing an alternator in b or d series engines isnt like doing one in a subaru where its right in front of your face... just thought instead of buying a manual i would ask you guys... isnt that what this site is for??? just sayin

lol well i just get frustrated with people on here that think that unless you have a billion posts then your a noob.... what is this world of warcraft?
Power or manual steering rack? Manual rack, it's just a lift, twist and drop drop affair in an EG and with a power rack it's just shoving the power steering lines over a bit to get he last like 1/4" needed. Lower mount doesn't have to come off.
I say what I say because if the noobs would do a search first, like for replacing the altornateor on a B16 I'm sure u would find at least 1 thread about it already. I think of HT as a place ppl come for more advanced questions that u can't find easily or in a book. Damn sure can't find in the manual..

Just to clarify. I am not against anyone nudging noobs to do some searching and reading on their question topics. Just don't have high expectations for such advice, as you will usually be disappointed. And certainly don't let this detract from your enjoyment of the forum.
Yeah 4 sho.. Depends on my mood of the day, lol.. Sometimes it is fun to give the noobs **** about being lazy and asking simple questions that r easy to find the answer. WHAT???? U r the first one to ask about the alt on a B16, how odd.!
Ha ha.. Ur funny cause u think I could care what u say anyway.. if u didn't care what we had to tell u then u wouldn't post! U know I am welcome to cause this is the internet and everyone is welcome..! LMFAO
