Default b16a2 rebuild

hey guys

i drive a a 2000 civic SiR (Si in the us) i just did a complete engine rebuild where i sent the block to a machine shop had the pistons, piston rings and bearings replaced along with machine work and also the head was done by another shop where the guides and seals were done along with a clean up. So i know this is gonna sound bad but i reused the head gasket because i had replaced it not even 5000 km before i took it apart again. but anyways i put everything back together and there was oil shooting out from the head gasket around the area where the thermostat is. is this just a bad seal where the head gasket is or am i in more trouble than i think

any help is appreciated

Mickey

x2. it is pretty much a rule of thumb to never re-use a metal gasket, or one that is a "crush" type. (pretty much all metal gaskets) going cheap in this aspect could end up costing you money in the long run that could have been saved by replacing it. you need to be sure you arent getting any head lift, which will warp your head. long story short i would replace it asap and save youself any more trouble

A new headgasket uses a crush sealer so there is no actual sealent. Just get a new head gasket. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

yup your right, no actual sealant. basically, you can use what they use for valve cover sealant.

Honda bond the outside of the gasket, expecially the front side where the vtec solenoid is. that oil port is famous for having the "honda leak" right at that corner where the head and block meet. go to schucks or autozone and its the "super grey" sealant.

So I found the reason why the engine was spewing oil from that exact area. It's gonna sound dumb but the head gasket was on upside down. Thought u guys might want to know and plEase don't make fun I aready feel like a huge idiot
