Default 98 ek with gsr swap exhaust help

Hey I have a 1998 civic ex with a 2000 B18c1 gsr motor in it. I know it kinda seems like a dumb question but, What exhaust do i get? will a 2000 civic si catback fit? an integra gsr catback? or a civic ex catback? I really just want a different axleback because i already have an rs-r exmag catback. Dont get me wrong its a nice system i just want something with a little more sound. It would be nice to find a really deep and low sounding axle back. I just dont know if I have to get a custom one made or what. Im pretty sure a gsr one will fit, the hangers is what im worried about.

x2

Use the exhaust designed for the chassis.

The only thing different would be the ex. manifold.

I just got done dealing with this problem. It’s easy really. Go with everything civic and the year of the car. the only thing that has to be different is you header/ exhaust manifold you have to find a header that fits a b18 and 98 civic they are out there watch what you buy I have had issue buying the cheap no name parts the header I got was 1/4 inch from my slave cylinder and the cat I bought the 02 port was straight down so I had to spend more money to have it fixed. Spend the money get good equipment and it will bolt right up. My mess up your gain.

definatly go with the exhaust that goes with the car body. as for the header. if it wont match up make kinda like a test pipe deal.

Apexi WSII and Greddy Evo will be deep but the WSII won't be that loud. Greddy will be a bit louder than the WSII.

I would go with any exhaust for ur chasis. I got the GREDDY EVO2 on my gsr swapped 99 coupe. Sounds nice. The apexi n1 is also a good choice. But the thing i did on my evo2 to fit my gsr swap header was to cut the flange out of the evo2 and weld the flange that fits the gsr header.

Its rediculus but i put the silencer in and it sounds actually really good. I thought it would sound retarded but im actually really happy with it. Lound when i punch it and a good little rumble when im just crusing. Thanks everybody

Not 100% true. I can personally attest that an 00 ex exhaust does not work without modification on a gsr engine. Well.... at least, the cat won't work. The bolt holes on the front of the EX cat flange are clocked the opposite direction from the bolt holes on the gsr header. Also, the entire system is a little bit short because the header is a slightly shorter than the stock EX header.

I took mine to an exhaust shop and had him cut off the front of the cat, rotate it 90 degrees, add 4" of pipe to it, and weld it back on.

I do believe that the EM1 exhaust fits slightly better.

There are two different GSR manifolds. The newer one is longer and has the same flange as the civic cat. The other is too short. Which is probably the issue you had. I used an OEM EM1 B16 header for mine and it bolted up perfectly.

No. Or, at least mine didn't, and my GSR A-pipe looks exactly like the middle one in the above picture. And I'm 99% sure that I have the original OEM Civic cat because I bought the car with 7K miles on it, no accidents, no mods.

Your luck may vary. I've heard a lot of people say that they had no problems at all, but on mine the flanges were 90 degrees opposite each other, and the A pipe was slightly too short... it would reach, but the whole exhaust was stretched to the limit.

It's not a hard fix though. I just had a muffler guy cut off the front of the cat, weld in 3" of pipe, then weld the flange back on in the correct orientation. He charged me $20 for it.
