Default Is My Type R LSD Broken?

Hi, I have a 1988 Honda CRX Si and it has a B20 Vtec Swap in it. I have the Hasport Cable to Hydrolic Mount kit with a 2000 spec JDM ITR Tranny (4.785 FD).

I was changing my oil last night and i went to spin one of the tires and the other one didn't spin. I was under the impression that with LSD both tries would spin together even when not in gear.

So i put it in first gear and tryed it again. This time When I spun the tire to the front of the car, the other tire spun to the back of the car. Again I thought they should spin together.

so after the oil change the car was still in the air. I started the car and put it in frist. both tires spin fine. I went to try to stop one tire with my foot and it stopped and the other kept going. I tryed it to the other tire and the same thing happened. the Tire stopped and the other kept going.

So my question is, is the LSD not working properly or dose it sound like it is working properly?

And if the LSD is bad, whats wrong with it, and how is it caused?

Thanks For the Reply.

I wanted to make sure that when it is in first gear and both tires r spinning, shouldnt the tire want to keep spinning when i try to stop it?

The reason I Ask is becouse on mine I can compleatly stop one tire (with my hands) while it is in first gear in the air.

Thanks in advance.

Differential type (clutch vs helical) and whether or not the car was left in gear has something to do with whether or not the other tire will turn if one is held.

ON a clutch type (Kaaz, Cusco, etc) if you hold one tire the other should not turn regardless of whether the car is in gear or not.

On a helical type (OEM ITR, OBX, Quaife, etc) the scenarios are different.

1. If the car is in gear and you turn one tire the other should turn the other direction. If it's in gear and you hold one tire, you should not be able to turn the other.
2. If the car is in neutral, one tire can be turned and the other can remain stationary as the transmission is allowed to turn internally.

So there's the long story of the short answer... As Aquafina stated, it's fine.
