Integra Alarm Hood Pin
I am installing an alarm into a 2000 Integra GSR sedan. I would like to not have to use the hood pin that came with my alarm. They stick out like a sore thumb and they don't seem to last long anyhow - the wires fall off or they get corroded.
Does the Integra come with an OEM hood pin? I was looking around and found this info in a few places:
| HOOD PIN|yellow/red |- |drivers kick panel |
My car did not come with a factory alarm, the plug is taped up in the kick panel. I cannot find a yellow/red wire up there so I thought I'd ask the experts...

I dont think models w/o alarms where pre-wired with a pin sw. installed, and if I remember, the pin sw. is built into the hood latch. There are higher quality hood pins available, but you can use the included pin sw and try to protect it with some dielectric grease.

I made a little bracket and mounted the DEI hood pin near the battery and fuse box at the passenger side firewall. This way it is more protected from weather and triggers if a thief peels the corner of the hood back to get to the battery.

I allways put it on the firewall and it looks factory. I never have a problem with the dei ones. Just hit them with wd40 every now and then. I show you pics later.

If you use an aftermarket hood pin, make sure you install it so that it wont get wet. They rust easily and then stop working. Also, water can even cause a false trigger! I've dealt with both problems extensively so take my word for it (was never a problem for me when I was living in So CA).
If you use a backstrap and some metal tapping screws, you can extend the hood pin away from the outer edges of the hood. Just be sure to brace the backstrap (get creative). Difficult to make it look clean IMO.
