1993 accord over heating help!!!
ok, so about this time year i start looking for a winter beater. My summer car is an 07 si. So i found a 1993 accord stationwagon. Body wise it is ok, so when i saw it i asked the guy what was wrong with it, and he told me it overheated, and that he took it to aamco and they told him he needed a new head. But for some reason i dont think it is the head, but i did notice it did blow some white smoke out the tailpipe. Another thing i noticed was the the radiator fan doesnt come out until the car is turned off. And the temperature gauge shoots up to H just after about 10mins of the car being on. Any advice or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance for everyones help.
blowing white smoke is coolant mixing in the combustion chamber. so good possibility that the head is either warped/ headgasket bad or even both.im not sure if the fans on thoses car turns on when car is off i think thats normal. but the fan should be turning on when it gets to the preset temperature.
so i got some advice from a mechanic today. he told me to change the temperature switch and the termistat.i hope this fixes the problem. will try this tomorrow and hope for the best
