help me gurus help my brother
Ill try and keep this simple.. My brother has a 03 rsx type s his motor has seized..So he is going to by a new engine. He always wanted to go faster. He wants a turbo but dose not want a race car. Now i have heard you can hybrid the k series like the older Honda motors , I have heard the simple easy one is a k20a2 head and a k24a1. <But wouldnt he lose vetec with that?>.. i would like some suggestions on what he should do be it turbo or na. He does not have to pay for labor as far as the install and has 3000.00 so far saved but wants his car back, so he is going to go buy parts soon, the top part of his k20a2 is fine. What would be the best route to go to have a good reliable street car? That is way faster than stock but still fun to drive ,and maybe even be able to give some cars he never has been able to keep up with a run. He does have some bolt on mods already also. please help us make the best outta a bad situation, or is going back stock the best answer. PLEASE HELP OR AT LEAST GIVE US YOUR IMO.

what was the reason for his motor to seize? k20a2 motor cad be had for 2500 but that wouldn't leave him with much spending money unless the insurance is covering the motor....what are his plans for the car? street? daily? track? what are his goals with the car?

I say get the car running, save more and then boost.
Ok thanks for some of the feedback it sounds like he does not have the cash to boost or supercharge. I kinda thought that ,but did not know so I figured Id ask you guys and gals. Now as far as his plans what he would like to do is boost but i do not think his money will be coming in like that to do boost or turbo. I know thats what he wants, but sometimes we want what we cant have. I talked to my uncle who said to ask you guys about going N/A instead.<what about k20a2/k24a1>. All my brother wants is a streetcar even though i do not approve<mom watching> I think the only racing that will be done is street, and stop light to stop light and interstate racing. Its his daily driver. And last as far as the k20 thats in the car blown all i know is that its seized. MY uncle told me there arent any rods thrown through the block and when he tried turning the crank it wouldnt budge. My brother says he thinks the heads and top end are fine and its the bottom end is shot. please keep your IMO and feedback coming

To the OP
If the motor is seized then you need to pull the head and make sure there was no damage done. Pull the oil pan also and see if there is any noticeable damage on the bottom end. If he wants to go with a K24 bottom end there are plenty of write ups on here to guide you through the process (considering your k20a2 head is good).
For $3000 any kind of boost is out of the question if you want the car to last. Unless you already have kpro and a turbo/supercharger on hand.

Get the motor repaired and squared away first. Sounds to me that your brother has high expectations with small pockets. Any chance he wants to keep it NA? Get some nice street cams, rbc and couple other things to help the motor breathe better? Just some thoughts.
KPro and tune is what I would suggest after getting the motor issue all worked out.
