Default no-tune turbo...

I just bought a 99 dx and it came with a turbo kit bolted on but stock ecu. i have a wideband sitting around my house for my other car which is an obd1 but i have no diea how i am going to approach this car when it comes to tuning this obd2. what are my options as far as tuning on a budget? also, when i tune my ecu can i just remove my 02 sensor and screw in the wideband gauge i have in its place? thanks for your help guys.

...Google honda wideband O2 installation.

Ehm, you could buy an AEM piggyback. It blows ducks, but it'll work.

Or, you can chip an OBD1 with a conversion harness. It's actually pretty easy, and fairly cheap if you're proficient in electronics and can do it yourself. Have a shop tune it on a dyno.

Or, if your budget won't allow for either, you can just take off the turbo kit =D

Also, consider getting a new camshaft. Your DX will thank you.

Read over http://www.phearable.net/tech/efibeginnerguide.html
If you do not have any tuners in your area we would recommend using a tunable system such as hondata, neptune, ectune etc.

If you decide to proceed with an obd1 ecu tuning solution, you should change your intake manifold to a manifold that accepts a two wire idle air control valve as the y7 manifold does not. (obd1 ecus only use two wire idle air control valves).

what type of manifold do i need to use? and is crome not a tunable system? and also why do i need to worry about the iac valve?

You can retrofit a B-series IACv to anything really. Not sure which D-series manifolds offer a 2-wire IACv port, you should give ol' Google a try.

CROME is fully tunable with an EEPROM burner. Or for on-the-fly tuning, emulators are pretty fun (S300, Ostrich). But those are strictly OBD1 options.

With piggybacks, they intercept the incoming signal from the sensors to alter fuel delivery, rather than reprogramming the outgoing signals. The bottom line, it isn't dependable & has very limited features (other than a cool display) - for that $500, you could get yourself a pre-chipped OBD1 & harness and still have beer money left over.
