I installed a jdm gsr a few months ago and slowly been putting it together and get it running, well im finally done and i start the car, no check engine lights.....took it for a ride and for some reason vtec is not engaging, originally this engine did not come wit the oil pressure switch on the solenoid so i bought one, hooked it up and still nothing, not my speedo doesnt work either, i think its just a bad speed sensor, but would that have nething to do with vtec not engaging?....thanks guys

 

bad speed sensor=no vtec

 

yeap no vss means no vtec period...check your vss connector. might be faulty

 

i even changed the connector, and still nothing, im assuming maybe the whole part is damaged? doesnt look like it is but im guessing since its not working something in there is messed up

 

I'm not trying to be rude here, I feel the whole teach a man to fish principle works greatly!
Try searching and you will find TONS of threads and probably even a sticky about vtec not working. Go through the checklist and see where your problem lies!
