Default Camshafts hard to turn/jumping timing.

I have 94 GSR b18c1, my camshafts are hard to turn, i think my pal over torqued them, but, i changed my headgasket and put the head on and the cams turn but they are so hard my car keeps jumping timing and it idles at 2000rpm im thinking i need to re-adjust my valves, because this is the 1st time the camshafts have been taken out after 290,000 on da motor? any advice? BTW the camshafts are kinda wobbly after you take off the camshaft holders? do you think the valves just need readjusting, because some are high and others are low?

If your cams won't turn and are jumping the timing belt STOP! do not try and run the motor. clearly something is wrong. DO NOT start the motor till it is fixed or you will do more damage. First check your mechanical timing. If I had to take a guess, you did the headgasket. put it all back together and never set the timing when you put the cams and timing belt back on or maybe never tightened the t belt. either way sounds like you probably bent some valves.

only other thing I could think of would be some totally backwards install of something on the head like cam caps or rocker arms to jam up a camshaft that bad.

Good Luck!

Nah, the cams turn , but they take effort, but i hear a click and the car dies then i go to check and see the car has jump timing,, BTW the car would not crank up if it wasnt in timing,

Man! Don't mess with the timing man! That **** will get you pissed if you do unless you know how to fix it. First off if your car is out of timing it wouln't start. Second if you have some bent valves the car will not start or if it starts it wont stay on if you get off the gas pedal due to bad compression. I had the same prob with the timing and man it was a pain. So what I suggest is if your car runs take a timing light and adjust it.

My cams on my b18b1 are hard to turn only on intake but when I take my distributor off it turns good. It makes no sense because i already replaced it way before and it ran good but now after i took apart my head it takes too much force than i want to try. Any ideas?
