Hey H-T. just alittle help.
Im moving out to washington state for school. Im making the trip in a few weeks from ohio to WA. I think my car should be ok since its all highway and i wont be in boost. ill be changing the oil and spark plugs right before i go and right when i get there. Is there anything else i should do???

buddy just went from here to west virgina a few months ago in his ef and hes was just fine,
but sence your turbo, id be alot more careful. changing all fuilds, bleeding coolent, checking breaks, tires, and make sure your supension is all good,
and just be careful with her, make sure it doesnt get to hot, and give plenty of time to cool off when you stop,
also do you have a turbo timer?
is your fan hard wired?

 

2000 si..b18c1 fully built t67HO turbo, motor was rebuilt(new internals) and has about 6-7K miles on it. Im planing on driving about 9-10hours a day and sleeping for a good amount of time to cool it off and ill check the oil level ever gas and ever time i go to sleep.
Im using the basic greddy timer. not sure about the fan...should be electic? i havnt had any problems with cooling issues, and sense it will be cooler across the northern US i think that will help with the heat issues if any. tires are a few months old(no spare so im crossing my fingures.) and i have nice susp. i believe the total miles is 21xxx, if everything goes well. Again will be goin through the mountains in WA so praying for no snow lol.

i have had a 9hour trip to mi. there and back with zero problems in the summer and humidity.

 

I just drove 18 hours round trip to the Dragon with no problems, including a ton of runs up and down the Dragon itself.

Before I left, I changed plugs, cleaned air filter, checked brake pads, tire pressure, and all fluids. Changed oil.

Just in case of problems, I brought my floor jack and a tool bag with metric wrenches and 3/8 and 1/2" sockets (you'll need at least 10,12,14,17,19,22, and a sparkplug socket), and whatnot (pliers, plug gapper, etc). I don't remember what the 22 is for, but I know I bought it special for some damned thing on this car.

With those few sizes of tools, a screwdriver, and a BFH, you can damned near take a Civic apart and put back together. Fortunately, I didn't crack the toolbag for the entire trip. The Civic ran flawlessly except for a bit of brake squealing on the Dragon that went away on its own.

Even on a turbo car, it's still a Honda. If it's built and tuned right, you should have no problems driving cross country. Hell, the dude who built the mid-engined RWD H22 Integra drove his from Carolina to California with no problems, and that's a lot more complicated build.

 

thanks man that makes me feel better. And thanks for the heads up on the sockets. Ill have a shitload of stuff in my car/trunk. But yeah i think if i just cruise on an easy 75-80mph and let her cool it will be ok im thinking a 4day trip will be ok cause of the cooling her down and over nights.

Hey fellow 11b, don't risk driving across country without a spare, do you not pack a few pairs of socks when humping?? It's one of those scenarios where you'll kick yourself in the *** for not being prepared. I understand it sucks driving/using a civic when trying to move, because you can barely fit anything in there.

And when you're out of socks, take your trusty leatherman and cut off your sleeves!!

 

lol so true.... i will be looking for a spare tires in the next few days.
