Road trip in turbo b18?
hey i have a turbo ls, a 91, and i was looking to move to florida from iowa. Now, ive never taken a long trip in this turbo honda but in my last boosted civc, i drove 200 miles to a different city and back no problems. But, at 1200 miles, idk, seems kinda iffy? has anyone made a trip like this before in a boosted honda? i mean motor is in good condition, no leaks or anything and i've pushed 15lbs through my 57 trim no issues. but i just dont want my motor to shut down on me half through my trip. think i should be fine? motor is just on a street tune btw

just turn ur boost down, you might have overheating issues. but besides that i think if you let it cool down every couple hours youll be fine.
there are plenty of stock turbo cars on the road that are able to drive that distance.

if it can make a 20 mile trip w/o overheating, itll make 1200.Just try to stay outta boost if possible.
But with a trip that long, its almost garunteed that atleast 4-5 people are going to try and run you.

Re: Road trip in turbo b18?
I would agree as well, you should be fine I had no issues.
I moved from CA to GA(2100 miles) in my turbo da packed with a TON of s@#t, haha..Stopped twice a day to let it cool and eat.
My advice is to be prepared just in case, take an extra (ignitor!) set of spark plugs, belt(s), oil, and coolant, some vac line, and of course the basic hand tools..
Better to have it and not need it right?
Speaking from experience, some crazy stuff ends up on the road in front of you, gets kicked up by trucks, rolls under your car, etc..Good luck

What part of florida (originally from florida). Central texas to northeast florida 1100 miles turbo lsv no problem. I took 2 days to get there. As long as the basics of the car run good (nothing to do with boost) your good

I drove me built boosted single cam from Cali, to FL. It took me about 4 days, and i did alot of stopping to let the car cool off, and see friends on the way. i ran 10w 30 oil in the car also. Also when i hit Texas, since it was hot out, i ran the heater in the car too help it not get so hot. But your drive is not far. And yes, a little tool bag would be great too have. And also, people will try to run you, i had fun doing it. I even met up with a crew in Alabama and chilled with them. I was suppose to run a guy, but he never showed up. Its fun, but be safe. Where in Fl are you headed?

Ohh man. thaqt's whta i was afraid of. But, ive invested in one those quick release steering wheels. So, i'll just take my steering wheel off all the time if that's what it takes so they cant drive off.

Re: Road trip in turbo b18?
man it's that bad out there? I'll definately take that into consideration. Thanks for the heads up on that. Can you still even have an alarm system on a car with manual locks though? My teg is manual everything

Re: Road trip in turbo b18?
^ sign up on Tamparacing.com for sure you can keep up to date on all the local stuff going on! Also, pretty sure the alarm install would be the same, you would just have unused wires. Alarm would still go off if some one opened your door.

Re: Road trip in turbo b18?
yeah for sure, they can even throw some actuators into the door so the keyless entry will work they're cheap too, like 40bucks for 2 doors
