Bushing Wars: Base vs Cable
Whats the diff? I've been wandering aroudn aimlessly on the web for some time now. TWM isn't helping either, with two very similar descriptions regarding both types. I had one of them installed with my comptech ss a while ago and can't remember which one i got. no flames please, just good ole' h-tech know-how would be greatly appreciated.
- same guy wondering about those shift *****.

ah, but which of those is responsible for keeping the shifter from moving while in gear. One description said that it "eliminates flex" while another claimed to provide a firm "contact point". they both sound so similar.
hm. i have the comptech ss and ONE of them installed a lon time ago. Ever since things have actually been harder to physically row throw the gears. what gives? does that give you a hint as to which ones i have, or should i just take the console apart and look for it myself?
Go out to car.
Pop hood.
Look down at the tranny and look at the shifter cable. If you see polished or aluminum bushings where the shifter cable is you have the cable bushings. If you dont see that then you have the base bushing.
Good luck
